Exploring the Rich Tapestry of Qualitative Research in Education: A Journey Through Diverse Methodologies

As an avid enthusiast of qualitative research, I find immense joy in delving into the diverse tapestry of methodologies that contribute to the ever-evolving landscape of educational studies. In this blog post, we embark on a fascinating exploration of various qualitative research methods, each offering unique insights into the intricate fabric of education.
One of the methodologies that captivates me is autoethnography, a deeply personal approach that intertwines the researcher's lived experiences with broader cultural contexts. This method allows for a rich exploration of personal narratives, fostering a deeper understanding of how individual stories intersect with broader educational themes.
Sounding Empirical, Staying Cosmopolitan
This reflective essay traces my evolving relationship with qualitative research traditions, moving from familiar interpretive frameworks toward more empirical approaches through Schreier and Mayring. Framed by a grounded cosmopolitanism that “chases butterflies without a net” (Hansen, 2010), it explores how methodological negotiation becomes an ethical practice of survival, critique, and care within Asian EFL research contexts.
Action Research
