🎬 Project-Based Lesson: Movie Reviews & Creative Remix

Level: Intermediate–Advanced EFL learners

Time: 3–5 sessions (60–90 mins each)


🎯 Goals:

  • Talk and write about movies in English

  • Share opinions with friends and classmates

  • Watch trailers, read scripts, and listen to audios

  • Make creative items like bookmarks, stickers, and ringtones from movie materials

  • Have fun shopping for new books and movies based on peer recommendations

  • Movie trailers (short, ~3 min) πŸŽ₯

  • Scripts or book excerpts πŸ“–

  • Storyboard templates or printables 🎨

  • Audio clips of dialogues or soundtracks 🎧

  • Basic art supplies (paper, scissors, glue, markers) ✂️πŸ–️

  • Simple editing apps (optional) for screenshots & ringtones πŸ“±


Lesson Flow:


Session 1: Dive Into Stories! 🌊

  1. Trailer Time! πŸ‘€

    • Watch 2–3 short trailers

    • Note down: genre, characters, mood, and plot ideas

    • Chat: Which movie would you watch and why?

  2. Script & Storyboard Fun ✍️

    • Read short script excerpts or book openings

    • Listen to matching audio clips

    • Draw or fill in a mini storyboard: What happens next?


Session 2: Review & Award! πŸ†

  1. Write Your Movie Review πŸ“

    • Choose a trailer or script to review

    • Use simple frames to help write:

      • “The story is about...”

      • “I liked/didn’t like...”

      • “My favorite part was...”

      • “I give it ⭐⭐⭐ out of 5.”

  2. Present & Vote! 🎀

    • Share reviews with the class or in groups

    • Vote for awards like:

      • Best Soundtrack 🎡

      • Funniest Scene πŸ˜‚

      • Most Inspiring Character πŸ’ͺ

      • Best Message πŸ’‘


Session 3: Remix & Create! 🎨

  1. Make Movie Magic ✂️

    • Use scripts, storyboards, and characters to create:

      • Notebook or book covers 🎨

    • Create screen shots, memes, or ringtones from videos and audios πŸ“ΈπŸŽΆ

  2. Book & Movie Shopping πŸ›️

    • Set up a gallery with all creations

    • Walk around, explore, and shop for books/movies by reading peer reviews and looking at artwork

    • Share what you’d like to watch or read next and why!
