Stillness & Endings - January's The Afterword Circle

The Afterword Circle — January 2026

Stillness & Endings

Winter Gathering in Gwangju

The Afterword Circle is a quarterly, place-based reflective gathering rooted in art, walking, and quiet noticing.

Each season, we meet in Gwangju to slow down together—beginning with an encounter with art or place, followed by gentle reflection in a nearby café or resting space. Rather than discussion or analysis, the circle offers time for presence: to notice what is ending, what is emerging, and what remains unfinished.

Participation is invitational. Silence is welcome. Nothing needs to be resolved.

About the Winter Gathering

The January circle takes place in winter, a season of stillness and endings.

We begin at the Gwangju Museum of Art with independent exploration through the current exhibitions, allowing artworks, spaces, and our own responses to unfold without pressure. Afterward, we gather in the Museum café (expensive but has vegan baked goods) for reflection using a Winter Zine or worksheet designed to support gentle, unhurried noticing.

This gathering is not a workshop or tour. It is a shared pause.

January Gathering Details

We’ll begin together at the café before moving slowly through the exhibition and gathering afterward for reflection nearby.

Save the date for our next event on April 25th
