Essay Poster Project 12
Exhibition
On our last day, Day 10 we meet and give each other feedback. We put the posters flat on tables. Students are broken up into teams of 7. Each team reviews the team’s posters. They need to read all seven essays. Everyone is given two small post-its to write encouraging words for two different posters. Then they are given two larger post-its to write constructive criticism. I elicit some examples of constructive criticism and demonstrate some crazy nonexamples “This is terrible” is not constructive feedback. I remind them to answer the question “why”. Why do you like it – reference some details. Why don’t you like it, give a specific example.
In the remaining 10 minutes the students are given two more post-its of different colors to put feedback on some empty posters. This feedback is about our class. Once again I give them instructions to give constructive criticism. I ask them to help me be a better teacher.
